George R.R. Martin, the Author of Song of Fire and Ice (the books behind the Game of Thrones TV show) has a blog, and he recently posted a bit of a rant on current political affairs, and specifically the efforts to disenfranchise american voters through supposed 'anti-voter-fraud' laws, despite the fact that there's no evidence that voter fraud is even happening.
You can really tell this man is an author because he uses words wonderfully. hah. There were a few choice lines in it that I found especially awesome.
George R.R. Martin -
The people behind these efforts at disenfranchising large groups of voters (the young, the old, the black, the brown) are not Republicans, since clearly they have scant regard for our republic or its values. They are oligarchs and racists clad in the skins of dead elephants.
And don't tell me they are libertarians either. No true libertarians would ever support a culture where citizens must "show their papers" to vote or travel. That's a hallmark of a police state, not a free country.
Clad in the skins of dead elephants - how great a line is that?
