Gargoyles Phoenix Gate - Painted by Athey Gargoyles Phoenix Gate - Painted by Athey
This is a commission I did for ~phoenixdragon
The WIP was posted a week or so ago. I had actually painted it over a week ago, but I really wanted to do some touch-ups to it and needed a few things to do that properly. I got them mid-week, but didn't have time till today to actually do it.

Wip of the painting is here: [link]

If anyone else is interested in these, I'd put it on my etsy store. If others want them, I will make them as needed. Just know that if you order the painted version, it'll take a bit longer since I usually only have time to tackle this sort of thing on the weekends.

I loved the uncolored version.

But the painting method needs work. It would be nice to see you adding more details, like shadows and lights on it.

this is an example of what I mean. It would improve the look so much!

I am sure you can do this :3

lol - yeah, I don't paint things. Not by hand. Digital paint is one thing, but hand-painted is something I have nearly 0 experience with, since like... a decade and a half ago in middle school. So yeah - not a field I honestly consider myself any way skilled in.

Wow. This looks a lot like the real deal. Where did you find paint like that?

The gold is just gold metallic spray paint. The blue is blue enamel paint from a model car hobby store.

lol - well any orders will have to hold for a bit - my makerbot broke last night. The extruder head is clogged and I'll have to buy a $20 replacement and hope that fixes it.

*gasps* OH NO! :( Well...glad to hear it's only a 20 part and not more than that. Is this from too much rafting? OR you just having too much fun with it? lol

I'd say it was mostly the result of too many 24+hour prints. lol. Just too much continuous printing for too long. (I've had several of them while trying to make my portal gun). So I need to cut back on the really large pieces.

My husband actually opened it up and completely disassembled the print head extruder, cleaned everything out, and used his soldering iron to melt the remnants of plastic clogging the nozzle, and managed to fix it! Woo. We just need to do maintenance more often on it to keep it working.

I'd have to look into what the shipping cost would be. What country are you in?

Okay, found FedEx and USPS's calculators too. FedEx estimated $125, so it was just as ridiculous as UPS would be to ship. Going through the US Postal Service was faaar more reasonable, but still pretty damn pricey. Cheapest option looked to be $35 to ship a package, this size, to Chile.

If you're willing to pay the shipping, I'd be willing to ship it.

I would like to buy you the unpainted version, obviously considering the cheapest shipping option :D

Please tell me in a private note your paypal mail to pay you... I'm really interested :D

Okay, I went into the etsy item and added in the shipping cost to Chile. I figured that'd be the simplest way to do this anyway - you can pay with paypal through there, and it'll have a nice receipt and I can keep track of things easily through there.

I can get one printed as soon as you place the order, and get it cleaned up and sanded and shipped out.

Wanted to let you know that it printed last night, and it was very successful. I cleaned off the raft material and sanded it down this morning before work while the kids ate their breakfast :)
I'll get it shipped out asap.

Fwew - I just did a shipping calculator for UPS and for a tiny, super-light weight package, it would still be like $100 for shipping. Which has to be wrong. that's just crazy. I'll look up prices on fedex and USPS if I can find their international shipping calculators. If anything else looks reasonable, I'll let you know.
